Description: Art Works for Schools is a curriculum program that teaches high-level thinking in and through visual art and theater. This product of a five-year collaboration of three organizations, several schools, and many individuals is written primarily for classroom teachers who are not art specialists. Teachers need not have prior experience using art in the classroom or special background in art. The lessons are written to be used directly with grades 3–8, but with minor adaptations, the program could also be used by art teachers, museum educators, and theater educators. The program consists of four modules, each of which contains about eight 45-minute lessons plus additional resources and lesson suggestions. The packaged set contains a 363-page, spiral-bound, illustrated curriculum guide, a 30-minute videotape, and a set of 16 full-color art slides.
